Pra encurtar, troque "sujeito + verbo" por um particípio: -ing (ativa) ou -ed / particípio (passiva). Recurso formal, comum na escrita.

While I was walking home, I saw an accident.
Walking home, I saw an accident.
After she had finished, she left.
Having finished, she left.
Because he was shocked by the news, he sat down.
Shocked by the news, he sat down.
💡 Mesmo sujeito nas duas partes
O particípio se refere ao sujeito da outra metade. Se os sujeitos forem diferentes, a frase fica "solta" (dangling) e sai errada.
